Marilyn Considine
teaches second grade. This is her tenth year at St. Mary’s School, and she
has found them incredibly rewarding and enjoyable. Marilyn works to ensure
that students have a lot of fun creating and exploring in their second grade
classroom. She feels that second grade is an especially exciting year
because students read and discover many different books, stories, and
authors. One of her favorite novels is E. B. White's Charlotte’s Web, a much
beloved classic that students enjoy discovering. The novel is set on a farm
and is centered on some fantastic characters and their unfolding friendships
with and loyalty to one another. Marilyn believes friendships are a very
important component of second grade students' lives.
Marilyn graduated from National Louis University. She has a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education as well as her certification in Elementary Education. She lives in Aurora with her husband and two children, and their dog Jordan, who has been referred to in the neighborhood as "Clifford the Big Red Dog". She feels that St. Mary’s is West Chicago’s best kept secret and encourages everyone to come for a visit because she knows everyone will enjoy discovering the secret for themselves.
