And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake: And after the earthquake a fire; but the LORD was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. 1 Kings 19: 11-12, KJV

National Vocation Awareness Week
January 10th-16th
Father Burke Masters, the Vocation Director for the Diocese of Joliet, is a particularly inspiring example of how a young man falls “in love with the Eucharist and the Catholic Church, ” as he puts it in his excellent blog, and begins to feel and ultimately act on the call to a priestly vocation.
Discernment of our vocations can be difficult in a world that moves quickly and often seems to push us toward secular concerns. This week, let us pray together that all of us might find the peace and serenity we need to listen to God’s still, small voice, and to follow His guidance as we choose how best to be of service to Him, to each other, and to our communities.

Prayer for Vocations
Oración por las Vocaciones
Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise. Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love. Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.

I have been duly reminded that three of the seminarians in our Diocese are from St. Mary’s Parish–more than from any other parish! We wish all of them God’s grace as they complete their study and preparation for the priesthood.
Did they go to the school?
That’s a good question, Kathleen. I do not know the answer, but perhaps one of our seminarians will weigh in with a response.
